About Stawell

Stawell is located 235km north west of Melbourne, and is well known for the Stawell Easter Festival featuring the internationally famed 'Stawell Easter Gift' foot race. Tourism, agriculture, retail and gold form the basis of industry in the region, with Victoria’s largest deep underground gold mine being a major feature of the area.

Stawell is often chosen as a touring centre for the Grampians, but the area offers many other attractions. Sister's Rocks and Bunjil's Shelter, a picnic area with aboriginal paintings, can be found along the highway, with Lake Fyans to the south. Visitors may choose to visit Willow Park, the tourist park, Caspers World In Miniature, the Through Time Heritage Trail, Pioneer Lookout or local vineyards. The more energetic can take part in water sports, ballooning, or horse-riding.
